Introduction
My name is Julie Vogel and I am a Professional Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have worked in the community actively since 1990 and have had many different roles during that time. I began as an Elementary School Teacher in the inner city of Milwaukee and then went on to become a Community Organizer. While working as an Intensive Case Manager in Sayville, NY I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling. I briefly became the regional Director of an Adoption Agency, later continued with case management and ran a drop in center for adults with chronic and severe mental illness. After moving to the state of Tennessee I worked as an adult facilitator of an Intensive Outpatient Treatment program for adults with drug and alcohol issues. Later I worked as a therapist in a Community Mental Health Agency and ran my own private practice. I have had my license since 2008 and I am now supervising those who wish to attain his or her state license. Throughout this time I have done educational workshops on Parenting, Adoption, Difficult Emotions, and Personal Safety. I received my doctorate through Argosy University in Counseling Education and Supervision and am now teaching at South University in West Palm Beach, FL. I have worked with a variety of populations including populations in both rural and urban settings. I pride myself on being an advocate for those who appear to have no voice in our society whether it is due to mental illness, economics, race, or culture. My overall personal philosophy comes from a place of strength and optimism. I believe all individuals have the capacity to create for themselves a meaningful and fulfilling life, whatever they consider that to be.
